Don’t read more books

I used to be a big advocate of reading books, but recently, I have changed my mind.

Why?

Most people don’t like reading and I don’t know why?

Maybe social media and a short attention span. Maybe lack of interesting authors, or topics. Maybe a lack of time.

I don’t know, and at this point, I don’t care.

Secondly and more importantly, people always want to tie their effort to unpleasant tasks to a financial incentive.

But you can’t do that with reading.

The best you can get is that ‘Readers are leaders.’

Which, in my opinion, means nothing. There are several leaders that are not readers and several readers are too introverted to take charge of anything and become leaders.

Most of the time, reading is to satisfy curiosity, to scratch a knowledge itch that is self-serving.

Of course, you can get financial benefits from the knowledge from books. But you don’t get an edge because you read books.

You get an edge if you have experience, connections or even money.

So don’t feel guilty if you are not a fan of reading books, you most likely will be fine at the end of the day.
